It’s just how it goes
Lately I’ve been recollecting a conversation I had with my resident advisor when I was living in Lander Hall last year. It was just a regular appointment we have each quarter to discuss how things were going, if there are any issues going on, etc.
So I brought up an issue regarding friends. I had informed him that I have met a lot friends at the UW in my first few days here yet, I also have a lot of good friends coming here from high school. I found it really hard to prioritize between these new friends and my friends from high school.
His response was to the effect of, “Don’t worry about it, it’s really unfortunate but probably by next year, these people you meet here in the first quarter, you’ll probably won’t be as close to them next year and probably not even hang out with them. Agendas change, people change, priorities change. It’s just how it goes.”
And really. This is how it went. Though I’m really glad about the awesome people I met last year, I find it really unfortunate that we haven’t hung out. I know, it’s a two way street so I’m guilty for it as well.
